Following the success of the NHS in Nottingham’s website, the East & North Hertfordshire NHS Trust have also invested in their own intranet development.
Web content management provider, EIBS, is to provide the Trust’s hospitals and its 4,000 employees with partner intranet sites underpinned by the EasySite Content Management System (CMS) for Intranets. The deal will enable staff to access a wide variety of vital information.
The East & North Herts NHS Trust manages a total of three hospitals: the Lister Hospital in Stevenage, Hertford County Hospital, and the Queen Elizabeth II in Welwyn Garden City, which provide a range of major in and out patient services. The new EIBS EasySite CMS powered intranet goes live at the end of January at Lister Hospital (the other two hospitals will have partner intranets up and running later this year).
EIBS provides content management software (CMS), to give organisations the power to change the content of their website, intranet and extranet at any time without requiring expensive technical support resources.
“Never before have staff been able to offer, find and share information with each other internally with such speed and ease - the Intranet enables them to reduce the amount of paper circulating within the Trust at present,” said John Webster, Director of Information and Performance Management, East & North Herts NHS Trust.
“We chose EIBS because it provides unlimited flexibility in terms of use, and freeing up staff time ‘admin-wise’ generates extra hours to spend hands on with patients, thus increasing our service directly to our residents,” he added.
The Trust is in the middle of a large programme of redevelopment of its information technology and information management systems.
“We’re delighted to be working with the Trust on this project. By using the all the latest intranet CMS technology we hope that East & North Herts NHS Trust will truly have a state of the art internal communications system to be proud of,” commented Marcus Boswell, EIBS Consultant.
