EASE (EasySite Advanced Search Engine) is a highly configurable, flexible and accurate search engine at the heart of EasySite CMS. EASE provides full site indexing and search including the indexing and ranking of digital assets such as PDF and MS Office documents, web pages and module content such as databases, events calendars, discussion forums and blogs.

At the heart of EASE is a sophisticated ranking algorithm that returns search results based on the use of search keywords and phrases, but EASE offers additional control allowing you to tweak the rankings algorithm through the allocation of weightings to specific attributes of your content – allowing you to define the most important locations of keywords and phrases within different ‘parts’ of your content – for example the Title, body content, metadata, URL name etc.
You can implement multiple search instances across your site, typically you will have a main site search that indexes all content, but you can also choose to have additional individual section searches in specific areas of your site – for example a ‘Press Release Search’ that will only return results from the Press Releases section of the site.
EASE also offers a full advanced search facility for more complex searches – including ANY, ALL and NOT as well date range searching. You can also offer category specific searching by cherry-picking the categories from your site taxonomy that visitors can also choose to search within.
As your site grows naturally the search engine will start to return large numbers of matches for simple search terms, EASE allows visitors to then carry out additional searches within the initial search results allowing fine-grained refining of the results.
A Synonym Ring is a collection of words or phrases that the Search Engine will treat as a single phrase. Synonym Rings are useful where there may be multiple terms that have the same meaning - and may be searched for by your visitors but may not actually be used on your pages. For example: Car, Automobile, motor.
EasySite's Synonym Ring feature allows you to define collections of these semantically equivalent groups of potential search terms. And you can add and edit Synonym Rings whenever you like.
EASE also allows you to define what information to display for each result from a list of available data including page title, page summary, full URL, breadcrumb trail, author details, last modified date and date created.
Data contained within EasySite plug-in modules can also be included as search items within your site search – this allows individual blogs, directories & databases, and event calendar listings to also be returned.
